Lilith is one of the three central Carrionites or witches, along with Mother Doomfinger and Mother Bloodtide, that feature in Doctor Who Series Three, The Shakespeare Code 2007. The Carrionites desire to return from banishment in the Deep Darkness via Shakespearean London and bring about the end of the world using the power of words, also known as witchcraft. Interestingly, the name Lilith has very ancient mythological associations with female demons; Lilith has been variously described as a screech owl, a bringer of pestilence, a night she-demon, a storm demon, a preyer upon children, a seductress, and the first wife of Adam. In astrology Lilith denotes an asteroid belt as well as the Dark and Black Moons. The Lilith action figure wears a long black coat and has a menacing grimace.
