The Doctor (Tom Baker) and Sarah-Jane (Elizabeth Sladen) arrive on the desolate planet of Karn where they are welcomed by Professor Solon, a fanatical scientist, and his servant Condo. At first Solon appears to be the perfect host, but his underground laboratory holds a hideous secret. He is in the process of bringing the long exiled and most sinister criminal Time Lord, Morbius, back to life. To complete the regeneration Solon just needs one last thing – the Doctor's head! The ancient sect of the Sisterhood of Karn, who guard a mysterious secret, also inhabit the planet and are out to avenge themselves against the Time Lords. Can the Doctor prevent the evil Morbius from regaining absolute power or will he be sacrificed by the Sisterhood?
